Why I'm Running for Office
Brittnei LaRue is running for school board because she believes every child deserves a quality education and the opportunity to succeed—and that strong schools begin with listening to the voices of those most affected by their policies. As a mother of two children in New Hanover County, Brittnei has experienced firsthand the challenges families face. Her son’s journey with an IEP taught her how critical it is to ensure every student receives the individualized support they need, while her daughter’s experience with bullying reinforced her determination to make schools safer and more respectful for all. These experiences have shaped her passion for advocacy—driving her to speak up not only for her own children but for countless families navigating similar challenges.

Beyond her personal experiences, Brittnei’s professional and community work reflect her deep commitment to service. As a financial professional, she understands the importance of transparency, accountability, and making decisions that are both fiscally responsible and people-centered. Her background in community service and advocacy has allowed her to work across political and social lines, uniting people around common goals and community betterment. Brittnei’s approach to leadership is rooted in compassion and collaboration—she believes that lasting change happens when parents’ voices are respected, teachers’ expertise is valued, and partnerships are built between the school board, educators, and the community. She is running to strengthen those connections and ensure that every decision made puts students first, supports educators, and reflects the shared vision of a stronger, more united school system.
